Cooking with Silicone

This morning I had my first experience with silicone baking.

I had been craving muffins and found a silicone muffin "pan" at the outlet yesterday. I later told my mother about it and she had a regular muffin tin to give to me as well. SO I did a comparison cook this morning.

I did not use paper liners for this "experiment".
I did spray with no stick spray- in both types.

-The silicone cooked completely in 15 minutes The recipe had said 25!
-The smell was odd. Perhaps -first time being used?-- Yes I had washed it!!
-It was jiggly and a little difficult to maneuver.
-I am pleased with the results.

Has anyone else baked with Silicone? What were your findings?

OK, first of all: I LOVE when you post! Your photos are so inspiring.

I used a silicone pan once a long time ago, and I agree about the jiggly thing. It was my mom's pan--new as well--and she really didn't care for it, so she took it back. Ours was a 8x8 or something like that.

So which did you like better? the silicone or metal?

well. The metal was traditional and I was used to it. but overall the silicone was-fine-.

I really would love to get a stone one!! like from Pampered chef or Williams Sonoma... I like the stone bakeware.

whenever I bake muffins in my silicone bakeware, I put it on top of a metal cookie tray, to help with the wobbles. I do like the easy clean up.

that's a good idea

Girls, all of your posts are so inspiring! I love just reading them :)
I really like the silicone for muffins and cupcakes, b/c I love that I can put the "pan" in the dishwasher. Cupcake pans are just really annoying to wash! It does kinda smell funny a couple times, but I never noticed any problem with the food tasting like that.

Stoneware... I have a round flat stone that I love as well. Nothing ever burns on it, and it's awesome cleanup. I've wondered how a stone breadpan or a 9x13 would do? Let me know if you try.
